Getting a Credit Card

Good morning, I would like to apply for a credit card.
Wonderful! Please have a seat. Which credit card interested you the most?
I wanted to apply for a Mastercard please.
Alright, we can get started on the application. Are you currently working?
Why do you need to know if I am working?
The bank needs to know that you will be able to pay back your credit card.
Ok, I understand now. Yes I do have a job.
How long have you worked at your job?
I have been working with this company for two years.
And what is your gross monthly income?
I make $2500 a month before taxes.
Do you rent or own your home?
I rent an apartment.
What is the amount you pay for rent every month?
I pay $800 a month in rent.
Now I am going to check your credit report to find your credit score.
Why is my credit score important?
We use your credit score to determine how reliable you have been in the past.
Oh, so you want to know if I am good about paying my debts.
Exactly, and it looks like you have a credit score of 700.
Is that good enough to get a Mastercard today?
Yes, and because your score is high, we can also give you a low interest rate.
How will the interest rate affect my credit card?
The lower your interest rate, the less you will have to pay back the bank.
Very good! Is there anything else for me to do?
Just sign this form and you will receive your Mastercard in the mail in a few days.

Human Resources

Thank you for meeting with me today Mr. Adams.
It is my pleasure.
I’m guessing you know what our meeting is about?
To be honest, I’m not quite certain.
Well, the HR department is discussing benefits with each individual employee.
I understand. Well, let’s get started.
Okay, Let’s talk about your insurance.
The company pays for my health insurance but I pay for dental insurance myself.
Yes, unfortunately our company does not have a dental plan.
Will that change anytime soon?
We are working on adding more benefits for our employees.
Well, a dental plan would be nice.
I will take that into consideration.
Thank you.
Now let’s discuss your 401k.
My retirement fund?
Yes. The company will match the money you contribute up to 6% of your salary.
I think right now I am only contributing 4%.
It says here that you are contributing 4% to your 401k.
Can I increase that?
Yes you can. You will need to fill out a request form in order to do that.
Where can I get the form?
I can print one off for you.
Thanks. I’d appreciate that.
You’re welcome. Do you have any questions about your benefits?
No. Just keep me posted about the dental plan.
I will.

Hi, I’m Peter.
Nice to meet you. I’m Tom.
What do you do for a living Tom?
I started my own company.
Oh wow. You are an entrepreneur.
I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur.
You should become one.
It seems very risky.
I won’t lie. It is risky.
How do you deal with the risk?
Bigger risks bring bigger returns.
That is a good way to look at it.
It is worth the risk to be my own boss.
How did you get the funding?
I found an angel investor.
Did he give you a good deal?
What deal did he give you?
He gave me $100,000 for 10% ownership in the company.
That seems like a really good deal. Have you done well?
I have done well.
Now I want to be an entrepreneur even more than before.
Make sure you are passionate about your idea and it will work out.
Thanks for the advice.

Were you able to get funding for your startup?
Yes, but not as much as we need.
Yes. It is exciting.
How much capital have you raised so far?
How much more do you need?
We feel we will need $40,000 of over head.
Are you looking for investors or loans?
We would prefer investors but we might need to take out a loan.
Who are your investors?
We presented to a few venture capital groups and got $10,000.
Good for you.
Do you know of anyone else?
I know a few angel investors.
I would prefer angel investors over taking out a loan.
I can give you their contact information.
That would be great.
Why don’t you want to take out a loan?
Because I don’t care too much about my equity in the company.
I see.
Also, I definitely do not want to pay interest in case things don’t work out.
That is smart.
It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Hello John
Hello Mr. Jones
Thank you for coming for your employee evaluation.
I’m glad I can be here.
Let’s get started then.
John, I have your paperwork here and you have received a great evaluation.
Thank you sir.
You are very efficient in your work and treat customers well.
Again, Thank you.
I also have some constructive criticism for you.
What is it?
It says here that you have difficulty filling out the weekly reports.
Yes, that’s true.
Why is that?
I feel like I was never properly trained on how to fill the reports out, and I’ve never asked for training.
They are more important than you might think.
Well, now that I know I will gladly learn how.
I can arrange for Bill to teach you how to fill them out.
Thank you sir.
You’re welcome.
Is there anything else I can do to improve?
No. You are doing fine.
Thank you sir.
You have worked with our company for a year now and we would like to give you a promotion.
Thank you. l accept.
Excellent, we can train you tomorrow.
